Walk the Line

The Johnny Cash Film is one of my top favorite movies that overall captures to me the real people in his life. One thing I had never noticed in previous viewings was what happened to his brother and their life on the farm. Johnny or JR as he was called had a rough childhood especially after his brother died from a sawing accident. He was blamed in his dad’s eyes for his brother death. His dad would also show up drunk in many occasions and yell and his mother and claim that the devil took the wrong son to Johnny’s face. After growing up he joins the air force and enters the war. He later gets married to the girl he meets before he went to war. After struggling for money in their first home he notices a recording studio. Johnny and his band of mechanics go in for the recording and are denied after singing the usual religious tunes, but he mentions his songs he wrote while overseas and they get the record deal. It was after this that Cash’s lifestyle started to change. After running into June Carter literally at his first concert performance he falls in love. His band and other including June Carter go on a tour that plays a lot of the movie. The film shows the hardships that Johnny Cash goes through such and popping pills and his alcoholism. Finally after divorcing his wife he goes through the worst part of his life where he is in love with June, but she won’t marry him. Finally after asking her to marry him on stage she accepts. I loved the movie and I felt the actors chosen were great for the parts. The movie shows the behind scenes that most typically don’t know about.
