The Economy and My World

So I was thinking about everything that is going on nowadays and I wonder what will happen. In the future. It seems like it was only a few years ago that their was peace or at least it seemed that way. Maybe its the media that makes things out to be worse than what they actually are. Maybe things actually are as bad as they appear. Maybe our world is just falling apart. What I don't understand is why does everyone want to rack up a crap load of debt for kids like me and for my nieces to be left with. Does the Goverment think that the don't have to pay all this back? And the ones paying it back will be me....my generation. I'm sure they don't care because most in Congress are 40-50+ and they will be retiring soon. This Social Security thing needs to be thrown out the window because for one it only works until all the baby boomers retire. Which is now. So that means their will be nothing left for me when I get older and want to retire. Whats going to happen to my generation..just dry up and hope we don't get nuked. Everyone wants to throw down and Bush's war efforts when the war was only 1% of expences. Look and the 1trillion dollar plan that Obama is planning for heathcare. Universial Heathcare bullshit. I never go to the emergency room like ever. So why should I pay and pay and pay when I hardly ever get sick. People are going to be heading to the emergency room for a cold or runny nose. This will lower the standards for heathcare and innitatly destroy everything....ugh..Im just sick of it. I am tired to being promised for change when everything is just getting worse. Oh and by the way don't blame me when Obama Fucks up this country..I voted McCain.

This Summer

So. I was looking forward to this summer because this past year was a hell hole. It seemed like nothing could ever go right. Always struggling to make a better grade on a test or trying to figure out how to pay for classes. There was always something. So this summer was a good one not because anything happened, but because nothing happened. I worked a lot which wasn't much different than before. I just didn't have to bother with studying. I was making good money and getting things done. Then came the summer class. I didn't know what it would be like because I had never taken a summer class before. I figured it would be fast and hard. I found out that its actually not that bad. Yes it was fast and I had some problems along the way keeping up(why I am writing this). It taught me to get things done faster and not linger on them so much. I also learned alot of things in this class and that is how to write about videos and view the entire scope of things. I am so glad class is over, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I am looking foward to the 30+ days till Fall semester. Gotta make that money. Later

The big dent

Ok so the other day I was heading back from Lafayette to go to class when just before I got to my street I got side swiped. Now for some background info. First of all I just got my truck like a month or two ago. It had been raining and I was in a hurry to get to class. So anyways I was driving along on Willow in Cookeville in the right lane when an old man pulls out in front of me..He can't make up his mind on what lane he wants to be in so after being in the right lane for about 2 sec. he viered into the left lane. I was like WTF. Typical old man who can't drive. So after thinking that he had gotten situated I decided to go on by him. I was still in the right lane as before and never switched. I then started going by him when in the corner of my eye after almost completly passing him he started comming back over. So I am just hopeing that I make it by him before he gets over or he will at least notice my big ass truck in front of him like most people would. NO. he just comes right on over. all this happening in like 5 sec. or so. I loose control and start swirveing all over the road and end up in oncomming traffic. So basicly I am staring at a car that is prob. 4 sec from hitting be when I go with instincts and swirve over just in time to miss them. Luckly no one what hurt and it didn't turn out as bad as it could have been. Still I was pissed. And if he hadn't been an old man I would have gone off on him. So now I got a big dent in the side of my truck that just screams shit. anyways it should get fixed in a week or so and it will be just like new.

WoodStock

Ok so I don't know if it has something with the fact that it was the 60's/70's and film was horrible or what, but this movie sucked. I found myself staring at my phone clock every ten minutes wishing I could fast forward like on "CLICK". The movie was just a bad representation of the time and I think they could have done a little better. Another point is that the artists shown in the movie wern't that great. I know more famous artists had to have been there so why the heck to they only film lame artist. I also felt that some of the scenes were a little un called for such as the nudity and what not. I mean really? I understand that is part of Woodstock, but everyone already knows that anyone that went to that is "One with Nature" and just weird. What I also thought was amazing is that everyone was on some kind of drug. Better hope they don't run out cause then the music wouldn't have any meaning, because I think the only way a person can enjoy it is by being on LSD or Mary Jane. Anyways I hated it not because of what the subject was, but rather the quality of film that was created

Poems...O the Poems

July 22, 2009. I begin my day having a wreck...but anyways lets fast foward to when I showed up late for class..I had already had some forwarning from Mr. Andy that we would be writing about Poems..or writing Poems either way it was about Poems..and God do I suck at them..or at least I think I do. Maybe its just the fact that I am not a fan of it or never understood Poems in general. As soon as I got to class I was handed 5-6 papers and I was almost sick...Great Mr. Andy has us some busy work since he is gone. But turns out after I started looking at the papers that each one was a different kind of poem and not exactly "busy work". We watched many videos and music clips which I thought we all cool in there own way..along with the fact that our teacher is an awesome blues singer..guitar player..exc. I was somewhat hateing this day simply because I have never liked Poems and never had alot of work with them. I also didn't realize untill then that rap has alot to do with Poems...I had never thought about it like that. Even tho I everything always flowed and had another meaning..It actually took me untill writing this blog to even somewhat like Poems..but now they arn't that bad. I think my favorite one was "Children of the Night" and "Black History" because they were straight up awesome in the videos.

Walk the Line

The Johnny Cash Film is one of my top favorite movies that overall captures to me the real people in his life. One thing I had never noticed in previous viewings was what happened to his brother and their life on the farm. Johnny or JR as he was called had a rough childhood especially after his brother died from a sawing accident. He was blamed in his dad’s eyes for his brother death. His dad would also show up drunk in many occasions and yell and his mother and claim that the devil took the wrong son to Johnny’s face. After growing up he joins the air force and enters the war. He later gets married to the girl he meets before he went to war. After struggling for money in their first home he notices a recording studio. Johnny and his band of mechanics go in for the recording and are denied after singing the usual religious tunes, but he mentions his songs he wrote while overseas and they get the record deal. It was after this that Cash’s lifestyle started to change. After running into June Carter literally at his first concert performance he falls in love. His band and other including June Carter go on a tour that plays a lot of the movie. The film shows the hardships that Johnny Cash goes through such and popping pills and his alcoholism. Finally after divorcing his wife he goes through the worst part of his life where he is in love with June, but she won’t marry him. Finally after asking her to marry him on stage she accepts. I loved the movie and I felt the actors chosen were great for the parts. The movie shows the behind scenes that most typically don’t know about.

Drugs..Homosexuality..and Kurt Cobain??

For starters I am not the biggest fan of Nirvana, but I know their music and a few of their songs are favorites of mine. The only band member I had even heard of was of course Kurt Cobain. Before reading the required story on the group I knew that Kurt was a strong drug addict and died of an overdose. I only knew of one song from the group called Teen Spirit. The members of the band all had a rough childhood in their own ways but all had things in common. One of these was that they all went through their parents’ divorce and didn’t seem to connect with others around them. Apparently Kurt had a hard time dealing with this experience. I myself have never dealt with my parents having a divorce, but I have half brothers and sisters that have, but they never used drugs that I know of to recover from it. Kurt also allegedly had a male friend that his mother thought was a homosexual “friend” that Kurt had that she eventually made him stop hanging out with due to her Homophobe attitude. The story is a good one that shows the struggle of a band that everyone mostly knew their problems, but didn’t know the details of the struggle. I am not sure if I feel sorry for Kurt or not. I do believe that someone shouldn’t just say he was stupid or ignorant, but should have put him in some kind of rehab if they knew about the drug issues. I believe the band was making progress and could have made it really big, but the lifestyle got to them much like other artists today.

Another Whittney Houston..??

While watching "Lady Sings the Blues" I was hating it, but loving it at the same time. Billy Holiday had not always lived the glamor lifestyle that she was living at an older age, but rather as dirt to some. She worked as a cleaning girl in multiple houses to pay rent and board...she later moved to Harlem where she started out cleaning for a woman and then becoming apart of the brothel ..if you know what I mean. She had a hard life, but a big dream of a singing career. Her singing career took off from a small club in Harlem where she realized that dancing would not get her anywhere, but singing would. She became more and more famous over the years for her talent, but this lead to a bad herion addiction. She was slowly going down hill and struggling to to what she truly wanted to do ...sing. She later went on tour with a small band hoping to make it big with Miss Billy Holiday along. The addiction continued to get worse and worse till finally she passed out on stage while performing.

The Microphone that heard it all...

I absolutely loved the movie in all its aspects. The movie starts out with Dewey going to a prison to visit his brother and runs into the future main character Petey Greene who does a radio show in the prison. After make a pact that Dewey figures will never happen with Greene to possibly get him a job he leaves. Greene later gets out early after making a deal with the warden and starts to look up Dewey. Dewey is shocked when Greene shows up a WOL...a radio station that Dewey works at...looking for a DJ spot. His crazy little girlfriend and him make a huge scene and gets everyones' attention. Greene was quickly denied a job, but after a riot put on in front of the station Dewey has a talk with Greene. ...To make a long story short Dewey pulls a few strings and risk his job to get everyone in the station to see what the public sees in Greene. Eventually Petey becomes a major hit in D.C. and starts doing comedy routines and concert appearances. It wasn't until Petey screwed up at the Tonight Show that the two's relationship went sour. After once being Petey's manager, Dewey leaves and starts his own DJ slot at WOL and makes a career out of it. The two then later in life unite only to have Petey die at the age of 53. Over 10,000 fans and friends showed to Petey's funeral which was held in at a huge park/lawn to accommodate the crowd. I realized half way through the movie that I absolutely loved it. I think that each character was played as if it was then. Overall from 1-10 I would give it an 8.

Music Videos..MTV..and...Madonna?

Are you surprised that Madonna was mentioned along with MTV and Music Videos..well if not then we are on the same page. While reading the longest essay/blog whatever it is ever I realized that there is a lot more to Music Videos than I originally thought. The fact that Madonna was mentioned doesn't surprise me along with countless other artists such as Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, and others than I knew the song but not the artist. Anyways the article was somewhat boring yet still interesting due to the multiple facts that I had no clue about before. I learned that videos are typically either of these forms: performance, narrative, and conceptual. The author explains this theory by showing how in the six different music videos how each one uses one of the three forms. Each artist represents a different genere of music from rap and hip/hop to rock and pop. These generes fall into 3 different models and they are: the Social Values Model, the Jungian Psychological Model, and the Ideological Models of Criticitism. I mentions how music videos not only helped the sell of records early on, but have now become its own section of the music industry. The music video crave was fueled by the MTV generation which I slightly missed...unfortunatlly. As the essay/blog continues and finishes out, it gets better and explains how each music video mentioned has a meaning to it that runs deeper than it title. Overall it was interesting, but thats it..nothing I would read on my free time....ok so to end on a good note..it was amazing...(cough..cough)..not

A whole new view on U2

Ok so after finding a copy of this film that I missed on the previous date I realized that I was not missing out on much. For starters I hated the film for one being that it was mostly black and white and another that it was boring as hell. I really think they missed the big point in the movie, because everything was just a bunch of stage performances that for me were not that entertaining. I did not have a lot of knowledge about the band U2 before watching the film other than knowing the lead singer Bono and his inspir(red) campain as well as others. Which to be honest thats pretty bad if you ask me to be more famous for other things rather than singing when your main career is singing..it makes no sense. I never really enjoyed much about the movie other than a few songs played. The interviews were very ..how to say...bland..boring.ect. I had a hard time staying awake during this movie and do not plan to watch it again unless forced. I personally think that no band should be aloud to make a movie about themselves because it will only turn out like this one I hope did and that is horrible. I will end this post on a somewhat good note and that I somewhat support Bono for what he is doing for the world today simply because he is doing more that I have and the majority of people in this world so even though you are a singer...rocker...performer..or what ever you want to call him..he is a good man, because of his actions.
